After we get saved by the grace of God, we realize that the Christian walk is not a 100 meter dash, rather it ls a life long marathon.  Many people get excited about their new found faith in Jesus and run off the starting line.  But when they face trials and temptation, they often shipwreck themselves because they didn't keep their eyes on Jesus.

As the writer of the Book of Hebrews teaches us, we must run our race with endurance by keeping our focus on the Lord who is the Author and Finisher of our faith. He gets to receive all the glory and we get to hear that beautiful phrase, "Well done, good and faithful servant..."
